GIRLS WITH CAPES IS A WEB SERIES which is currently in development.

Girls with Capes is a collective of girls, women and non-binary people who all have different stories to tell. With this collective, we create a community of people that can inspire and empower each other, lift each other up and see themselves reflected in easily accessible content.

The idea for Girls With Capes started during the first lockdown by me, Laura Torenbeek. The title was inspired by my then 9-year-old sister, who has a cape coat and who is one of the coolest people I know. Through an open call we asked filmmakers to send in their scripts and ideas, asking them to think about what content they would have liked to have seen when they were younger. We received a large amount of stories and after a thorough selection process we ended up with a slate of films and a diverse collective of talented female writers and directors.

We (the filmmakers) are currently in production of the web series, but I wanted to expand to tell more stories and connect more people. Girls with Capes has become more than a web series and we’ve just released our first zine.

Three out of the five projects have been shot, with “Amani Means Faith” shooting later this year.

Below you can find information about the projects and our first one is now online!
